Linda and I along with Sharla, Cameron, Everett, Natalie, Chloe, and Clark took a small vacation to Yosemite National Park. With the high prices in gas we were glad we didn't have to travel very far. We booked a place about a year ago, because it is so hard to find a place to stay during the summer. That was until the high gas prices and then everyone cancelled. We were staying at Fish Camp just south of the park. It was a great place to stay with little cabins with three rooms to each building in the pine trees. Fish Camp is a very small village with a small general store, a closed down gas station a lodge and the innthat we stayed at.
The first day we drove to Yosemite Valley and spent the whole day. I had not been there since the early 60's. As we drove in we could see Bridal Vail Falls the Yosemite Falls. The forest was beautiful to drive through. We hiked to Mirror Lake. Cameron and the kids didn't m ake it all of the way, because it was hot and the Merced River was on the way. Linda Shala and I went on and left the rest to cool their feet in the river. We saw a deer on the trail, and lots of squirrels. We made it to Mirror Lake and we knew why it got its name. The lake reflects the mountians in the lake. (see the photo above)
We went to the Redwood Forest the next day and hiked up hill about a mile. At least thats what the sign said. It filt like two miles. We saw the giant redwoods including one that they carved a hole through that you can walk through. (See photo above) The rest of the day was for swimmimg in the pool for the kids, and falling alsleep for the Grandparents. If you ever get a chance to see Yosemite don't miss it. Once you have seen it you will never forget it.
