(photos of Linda me and my cousin Kathleen & My Aunt Elizabeth and my cousin Laura)
Linda and I just got back from see my relatives that in some cases I had not seen in 50 years. We spent two days with my cousin Kathleen. She has a great home that her husband Chris built in the south part of Ohio. I can just barely build a work bench, and he built a beautiful home. We met some of her children and grandchildren. It gave Linda a chance to see how great my Dad's family was since my Dad passed away the year before Linda and I dated. My Aunt Hilda lives with Kathleen, and it was great to see her. She is no longer in the best of health, and Kathleen watches over her. I remember how hard it is to take care of a family member when they are no longer well. It just shows what a big heart Kathleen has, as well as her family that also helps.
I saw my Army buddy James Rau and his wife Rosie that lived near my cousin. He has a farm and his son and daughter live next door. He has another son that is fixing up the home James grew up in, and when it is finished the son will move back.
I drove across the State and visited another Army buddy Alan and his wife Bernie. It was great just to sit and visit. After all of the driving we really enjoyed just sitting and talking. While we were there they were watching their grandson who just loves tools. I think as their grandson gets older they may have a problem as they my find he has taken the car apart the see he it runs. As bright as he is he will more than likely be able to put it back together to.
Our last stop was Wheeling, West Virginia. We got to see my Aunt Elizabeth who we called Yibbie. She is almost 89 years old and if not foe a hip problem would be as busy as a 30 year old. I got a chance to ask a few questions about the family and was amazed what a great memory she has. The next day Linda and I drove around the town and saw the sites. Later that night we got together with my cousin Laura. When I lived in Wheeling in 1959 before we joined my father in Okinawa she was my favorite couson, because she had the cowboys and indian set and let me play. My sister and the other cousons played with dolls.
Well this is getting long so I will stop. I wish everyone well and hope to see you all soon.
